FOTHERGILLA MAJ BLUE SHADOW
Grower Notes:
Fothergilla x intermedia 'Blue Shadow' PP15490 is commonly referred to as Blue Shadow Fothergilla. It is a branch sport of Fothergilla 'Mount Airy' and is similar to it except for its leaves that emerge green and quickly turn an showy steel blue. Hundreds of pure white bottlebrush-like blooms with a honey scent appear in early spring. Steel blue foliage turns bright shades of orange and red in the fall.
Blue Shadow Fothergilla thrives in full sun to part shade in moist, acidic, rich, well-drained soils. Best to avoid heavy soils. It is ideal as a specimen or accent plant. It has good shade tolerance and is a perfect companion to Rhododendrons.
